The things we want to show & teach these children extend far beyond the classroom!

But the things the students teach us are so impactful that I find myself at a loss for words when I see pictures like these!

Yesterday, Rikki took a few of the students into a neighboring village to hand out clothing that we purchased or was donated from our friends in the US.

These are the SAME students, that lined up about two weeks ago to receive clothing donations.

So many people showed up for that clothing driving that we had to limit to one piece per person (We originally thought each child could get 2-3 pieces each, but actually ran out and had to purchase more). Editor comment: Happy to be in the position to need to purchase more or get more donated :-)

Who are these students and what makes them so special?

These are:

The same children that use your suitcases as bureaus!

The same children that wear the same outfits-day after day!

The same children that we frequently fundraise for because they have so little!

These children went to a village down the road and HAPPILY gave other children clothing that I’m sure they would have also loved for themselves.

They held up the clothing against the children to make sure it would fit.

They dug through the suitcase(s) to find items they thought children just like them may enjoy wearing.

They had the opportunity to see that there is just as much joy in giving as there is in receiving.

They are able to see children who may actually have less than they do receive “new to them” items.

They are able to experience the joy that we experience each time we drive through villages with suitcases filled with clothes, or give hundreds of students new backpacks, or hand out toys that our friends & family have donated…

Seeing these kids who are so in need show kindness and generosity to other kids in need makes us so grateful and humble about what we have and the impact we can make on others.

We love that our goal was to change “Just One” child’s life, but changing one child’s life has transformed into those children changing other children’s lives…
